Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFHT)
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a type of Talk Therapy, that combines the use of psychotherapy with hypnosis. At its heart, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on the present and the future and not on the past. The dialogue and intervention look at what the individual wants to achieve (the solution) rather than at whatever prompted them to seek help (the problem). The process itself aims to alter our state of consciousness in a way that relaxes the conscious part of the mind while simultaneously stimulating and focusing the subconscious part.
The modality applies a set structure, drawing from the concepts of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and using proven techniques of a combination of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), mindfulness, and the latest brain-based theories from neuroscience. It is an enjoyable experience with powerful results.
Skilled relaxation techniques such as Progressive muscle relaxation and mental imagery are used to induce a state of trance and this causes a natural shift in one’s brainwave patterns from beta brain activity to more alpha and theta wave activity.
This heightened state of awareness allows the therapist, to then make solution focussed suggestions that are explored and utilized by the brain for positive benefit.
SFHT has proven effective in addressing aspects and symptoms of stress, low mood, anxiety (including panic attacks). It also helps people cope better with physical issues such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and certain chronic pain conditions. Specific phobias such as fear of spiders, water, flying and public speaking can also be minimized, along with painful memories and traumatic experiences.
